Sarah Morton, MS, PhD, has a diversified work experience that spans both academia and industry. Sarah is currently working as a Senior Data Scientist at J.D. Power, starting in October 2021. Prior to this, they worked at ENGIE Impact from February 2019 to October 2021, where they held the position of Data Scientist. In this role, they utilized their expertise in forecasting, statistical analysis, machine learning, and data wrangling to build internal products and extract business insights related to energy and sustainability management. Sarah also developed R Shiny apps and Python scripts for various purposes, such as automating data feeds and generating monitoring dashboards. Sarah's work at ENGIE Impact involved projects focusing on data quality assessment, model impacts analysis, COVID-19 impact visualization, rate forecasting, and data auditing.
Before their industry experience, Sarah worked in various research roles at Washington State University. From August 2017 to February 2019, they served as a Research Assistant in the Department of Sociology, where they conducted survey and experimental research on human-computer interaction and gender. Sarah also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Office of Institutional Research from August 2016 to May 2017, where they utilized SAS, SQL, and R programming to analyze and report student data, implement surveys, visualize data, and write reports. Additionally, they served as a Survey Consultant in the SESRC Survey Design Clinic from February 2016 to December 2018.
Sarah's research experience at Washington State University also includes roles as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Sociology from August 2014 to June 2016 and as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Sociology from June 2015 to August 2015. In the latter role, they collected and analyzed demographic data from four Muslim countries and the United States, focusing on women in engineering.
Sarah's early work experience includes their role as an Admissions Ambassador at the University of Saint Francis from August 2010 to May 2014.
