Donald Bechtold

VP Healthcare And Integration, Chief Medical Officer at Jefferson Center for Mental Health

Dr. Donald Bechtold has a diverse work experience in the field of mental health. Donald started their career at the University of Colorado Hospital in 1985 as an Associate Professor of Psychiatry, where they remained until 2001. In 2001, they joined the Jefferson Center for Mental Health as the VP of Healthcare and Integration and Medical Director. In 2005, they became the Medical Director of Foothills Behavioral Health, a position they held until 2011. From 2009 to 2011, Dr. Bechtold also served as the Medical Director of Foothills Behavioral Health Partners. In 2014, they joined Foothills Health Solutions as the Chief Medical Officer, a role they held until 2016.

Donald Bechtold, MD completed their Bachelor of Arts degree with double majors in Speech Communications and Psychology at Metropolitan State College, Denver, CO from 1972 to 1975. Donald then attended the University of Colorado Denver and earned their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in 1980. Following this, they completed an internship in Community Medicine from 1980 to 1981. From 1981 to 1983, they pursued their residency in Psychiatry at the University of Colorado Denver. Donald further specialized in the field of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, completing a fellowship from 1983 to 1985, and serving as the Chief Fellow in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry from 1984 to 1985.
