Jeff Gunter, P.E., C.F.M. has extensive work experience in the field of civil engineering. Jeff served as the Chief Civil Engineer at the Jefferson County Commission since August 2022. Prior to that, they held the same position from April 2006 to July 2022. Before joining Jefferson County, Jeff worked as a Senior Civil Engineer from February 2000 to April 2006. Jeff began their career at USInfrastructure as a Project Engineer from February 1998 to February 2000. Jeff also gained valuable experience at UPS, where they served as a Supervisor from August 1989 to February 1998.

Jeff Gunter, P.E., C.F.M. earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Jeff completed this degree between the years 1990 and 1996. In addition to their education, they obtained the certification of Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) from the Association of State Floodplain Managers, Inc. (ASFPM) in May 2006. Jeff also obtained the Professional Engineer certification from the Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors in May 2003.
