Diana Arias

Project Manager for NASA Behavioral Health and Performance Laboratory at Jes Tech

Diana Arias has a diverse work experience in the field of behavioral health and performance, primarily within the NASA space exploration program. Diana started their career at NASA Johnson Space Center in 2011 as a NASA Summer Intern and later joined LZ Technology as a Behavioral Health Program Intern. Diana then transitioned to a role as a Research Coordinator at LZ Technology, where they contributed to behavioral medicine research projects. In 2013, they became a Behavioral Medicine Research Portfolio Manager at LZ Technology/JES Tech, overseeing research projects in this field until 2016.

From 2016 to present, Diana has been working at JES Tech as a Project Manager for the NASA Behavioral Health and Performance Laboratory. Diana is responsible for managing projects related to NASA's behavioral health and performance studies, with a specific focus on the Human Factors and Behavioral Performance Research Element. Diana collaborates with various teams, including the Lead BMed, Team and Sleep Risk Scientists, and Portfolio Managers, to ensure the successful execution of research tasks. Diana also liaises with the ISS Medical Project element to update flight requirements for upcoming increments.

Prior to their work at NASA, Diana gained experience as a Structural Imaging Analyst at the New York State Psychiatric Institute at Columbia University Medical Center, where they worked from 2007 to 2010.

Diana Arias obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics from Dartmouth College, where they studied from 2002 to 2006. Diana furthered their education by pursuing a Master of Science degree in Space Science with a specialization in Human Space Flight at the International Space University, attending from 2010 to 2011. In addition to their academic achievements, Diana also obtained several certifications. In January 2017, they completed the Kepner Tregoe Project Management certification from Kepner-Tregoe. Moreover, in August 2011, Diana received a SCUBA Certification from PADI. Furthermore, in August 2022, they acquired a Helicopter Private Pilot License from the Federal Aviation Administration.
