Onkar is a Life Member of the IPMA and an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad. They hold an Engineer's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi, earned in 1970.
