Flavia Martelli has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of wireless systems and telecommunications. Flavia began their career as a Telecommunications Engineer at CNIT, where they focused on software contributions for simulation and performance evaluation of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). Flavia then pursued their Ph.D. at the University of Bologna, during which they conducted research on wireless networks for body-centric communications. Flavia also worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Bologna, where they designed software for embedded systems and conducted experimental characterization of human mobility in indoor environments.
In 2012, Flavia became a Visiting Ph.D. Student at the University of Surrey's CCSR, further enriching their knowledge and expertise in the field. Following this, they joined JMA Wireless - TEKO Systems Group as a Firmware and FPGA Engineer. In this role, Flavia was responsible for firmware development for micro-controllers in embedded systems and firmware and software development for projects based on Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). Flavia also designed drivers and applications for both standalone and OS-based solutions.
Flavia had a brief stint as an Independent Contractor at SMAIL S.p.A. - Manutencoop, where they conducted a feasibility study for Smart Lighting and Surveillance applications using wireless networks. Additionally, they served as a Tutor for the Telecommunications Engineering Degree program at the University of Bologna.
Flavia's international experience includes being an Erasmus Visiting Student at the University of Oulu's CWC, where they gained exposure to cutting-edge research in the field. In summary, Flavia Martelli has a solid background in wireless systems and telecommunications, with expertise in firmware and software development, research and experimentation, and network simulations.
Flavia Martelli obtained a Diploma from Liceo Scientifico Enrico Fermi in the year 2003. Flavia continued their education at Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree equivalent in Telecommunications Engineering between 2003 and 2006. Flavia then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) equivalent Degree in Telecommunications Engineering at the same institution from 2006 to 2009.
