Giovanni Chiurco

Director, Engineering - FPGA Engineering at JMA Wireless

Giovanni Chiurco has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering, with a focus on FPGA design and wireless telecommunication systems. Giovanni is currently serving as the Executive Director of Engineering - FPGA Engineering at JMA Wireless since January 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Teko Telecom as an FPGA Designer from January 2013 to January 2023.

Before joining Teko Telecom, Giovanni was a Research Fellow at WiLAB - CNR/IEIIT-BO from 2008 to 2012, where they conducted activities related to wireless telecommunication systems. Giovanni also worked as a Ph.D. student in Telecommunication Engineering at DEIS - University of Bologna from 2008 to 2010.

Furthermore, Giovanni gained practical experience as a Working Student at DOCOMO - EuroLabs from November 2009 to May 2010, where they conducted research on wireless telecommunication technologies, specifically on Multi-User Multi-cell MIMO-OFDM Systems. During their internship, they successfully implemented a system-level simulator for future cellular networks, surpassing initial expectations.

To start their career, Giovanni worked as an Electronic/Telecommunication Engineer and FPGA programmer at Alma Mater S.r.l from May 2007 to December 2007.

Giovanni Chiurco completed their education in a chronological manner. Giovanni began by attending the Liceo Scientifico from 1995 to 2001, where they earned their Maturità Scientifica. Following this, they pursued their higher education at Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna from 2001 to 2007, where they obtained their Laurea Specialistica in Ingegneria delle Telecomunicazioni. Finally, from 2008 to 2010, they continued their studies at the same university and achieved a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Information Technology. In addition to their formal education, Giovanni Chiurco obtained certifications in TEKO DAS Product Overview - International from JMA Wireless in August 2018.
