David E. Lawrence

David E. Lawrence, Ph.D., is an experienced educator and administrator currently serving as the Superintendent of Dayton Public School District since September 2022. Lawrence has a diverse background in educational leadership, including previous roles as the Principal at Northmont City Schools and Chief of School Innovation at Dayton Public School District. In addition, Lawrence works as a Curriculum Implementation Consultant for Achieve3000 and as a Leadership, Curriculum, and Equity Consultant for Jobs for the Future. Academic qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Cincinnati, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Wright State University, and a PhD in Leadership and Organizational Change from Antioch University, focusing on school reform and improvement. Military service includes being an Infantryman in the United States Army Reserve.
