Sr. Hardware Test Engineer at Joby Aviation

Alexandria Langford has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Alexandria is currently employed as a Senior Hardware Test Engineer at Joby Aviation since April 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Hardware Test Engineer at Butterfly Network, Inc. from July 2019 to March 2021.

Alexandria also has experience in the aerospace industry. Alexandria held the role of Ground Test Engineer at Sikorsky from July 2016 to July 2019, where they were involved in the structural testing and evaluation of critical components and electromechanical actuators for the SB>1 DEFIANT rapid prototype vertical lift helicopter. At NASA Ames Research Center, they worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer from August 2015 to June 2016 and as a Pathways Graduate Intern from August 2014 to August 2015. Their responsibilities included conducting research on ceramic coated aluminum rotor blades and designing a new mount for a wind tunnel.

Additionally, Alexandria worked as a Graduate Intern at Boeing in May 2014, where they developed documentation and reviewed fabrication plans for satellite parts and assemblies. Alexandria also designed a bond tool for a specific spacecraft panel and created a stress map for spacecraft panels. Prior to this, they held the role of Propulsion Engineer Graduate Intern and Electric Propulsion Engineer Intern at The Aerospace Corporation from January 2014 to May 2014 and from May 2013 to January 2014 respectively. In these positions, they designed test rigs and setups to study stability characteristics and the effects of magnetic fields.

Earlier in their career, Alexandria worked as a Student Engineer Co-op at Johnson Space Center from May 2012 to December 2012, where they contributed to the fabrication and analysis of the Portable Life Support System. Alexandria also gained customer service experience as a CE Supervisor and Student Worker at the University of Southern California Ticket Office from August 2009 to May 2012. Lastly, they served as a Student Engineer Co-op at NASA Johnson Space Center from January 2011 to May 2011, where they performed test and measurement activities related to electromagnetic interference and compatibility.

Through their various roles, Alexandria has acquired a range of skills and expertise in hardware testing, design engineering, research, and customer service.

Alexandria Langford attended Archbishop Mitty High School, although the start and end years are unknown. After high school, they enrolled at the University of Southern California, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Astronautical Engineering from 2009 to 2013. Later on, from 2014 to 2015, Alexandria pursued a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering also at the University of Southern California.
