Aryssa Medina has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Aryssa currently works at Joby Aviation as an Actuators/Mechanical Sys. Test Engineer, a role they began in July 2022. Prior to this, they were employed at Cytiva as a Lead Test Engineer from May 2021 to June 2022.
From 2016 to 2021, Aryssa worked at Pratt & Whitney, starting as an Associate Engineer in the Engineering and Validation Rotational Program. Aryssa held various roles within the program, including Test Systems Engineering, Assembly Engineering, and Test Operations. During their time at Pratt & Whitney, they led multiple commercial engine/rig assemblies and teardowns, coordinated assembly activities for a First Engine Compliance Configuration, and supported commercial engine mounts and test activities for FAA certifications.
Before their tenure at Pratt & Whitney, Aryssa gained experience at Brown University. Aryssa worked as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for an ENGN1000 Capstone Design course and assisted in student project growth. Aryssa also conducted research involving the study of hydrofoils and served as a lab member for Prof Jennifer Franck's Fluid Mechanics Laboratory.
Aryssa also worked as a Leading Edge Hydrokinetic Tidal Energy Prototype Assembly researcher at Brown University, where they assisted in the design, fabrication, and field-testing of a hydrokinetic energy device.
Additionally, they held roles as a Concierge at Alumni Relations Reunion Employment, a TANMS REU Student conducting lab research at UCLA, a Crew Member at Brown Dining Services, and a Swim Coach for the Fowler Sea Dragons City Swim Team.
Throughout their various positions, Aryssa has demonstrated skills in engineering, testing, research, assembly operations, teaching, and customer service.
Aryssa Medina completed their high school education at Fowler High School from 2008 to 2012, earning a High School Diploma. Afterwards, they attended Brown University from 2012 to 2016, obtaining a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering. Aryssa then pursued further studies at Penn State University from 2018 to 2020, earning a Master's degree in Systems Engineering.
