Sr Flight Test Engineer, Software & Test Infrastructure at Joby Aviation

Brett Mather has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Brett currently works at Joby Aviation as a Sr Flight Test Engineer, Software & Test Infrastructure, where they develop software tools for flight test process management and analysis. Brett also collaborates with cross-functional teams to tackle challenges related to aerodynamics and vehicle development. Prior to this, Brett was the Lead Flight Test Engineer at Joby Aviation, leading a team of 15 flight test engineers and overseeing developmental testing of an eVTOL aircraft.

Before joining Joby Aviation, Brett served as a Flight Test Engineer in the US Air Force Reserve, where they gained experience in conducting and reporting tests. Brett also worked at Gulfstream Aerospace as an Experimental Flight Test Engineer, responsible for planning and conducting tests on Gulfstream experimental aircraft.

Brett's earlier experiences include serving in the Florida Army National Guard as an HH-60M Blackhawk Pilot, leading a platoon and conducting combat MEDEVAC missions. Brett also worked as an AP Math and Science Tutor at Savannah Educational Consultants and served as a Flight Test Engineer / Test Conductor in the United States Air Force.

Additionally, Brett worked as a Lead Flight Test Engineer at Eagle Flight Research Center and as a Physics Lab Instructor. Brett has also been involved in research at NASA and worked as a Get Connected Staff member at Virginia Tech. At the start of their career, Brett gained experience in data and network internship roles at Shentel, where they worked with DSL internet service and developed various programs to support customer service.

Throughout their career, Brett has gained expertise in flight test engineering, software development, leadership, and aviation operations. Brett has been involved in diverse projects and has demonstrated adaptability and problem-solving skills in challenging and dynamic environments.

Brett Mather has a strong educational background in aerospace engineering. Brett earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech, where they studied from 2003 to 2007. Following that, they pursued further education at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, earning a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from 2007 to 2009.

Prior to their university studies, Brett Mather completed their high school education at Central High School Woodstock, VA from 1999 to 2003. Although no specific degree or field of study is mentioned for high school, it can be inferred that they obtained a high school diploma.
