Gerard Struthers

Gerard Struthers is a highly experienced flight test engineer with a significant background in the aerospace industry. Currently serving as Flight Test Engineer Lead at Joby Aviation since March 2024, Gerard previously held the position of Head of Flight Test at Volocopter GmbH from July 2020 to February 2024. From October 2018 to July 2020, Gerard managed the Flight Test Team for Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation's M90 SpaceJet FTV#3, overseeing critical aspects of test readiness and execution. Prior roles include Senior Flight Test Engineer at AeroTEC and Engineering Specialist at Bombardier Aerospace, where responsibilities included flight deck design and conducting extensive flight tests. Gerard's early career featured a key role as Lead Flight Test Engineer at Diamond Aircraft and Chief Engineer at the SA Air Force Test Flight & Development Centre. Gerard holds a B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering from Stellenbosch University and has pursued advanced aerospace studies at The University of Kansas.
