James Allport

James Allport is an experienced facilitator and independent director with a diverse background in leadership and law. Currently serving as a facilitator at the Forward Institute, James coaches senior leaders on responsible leadership within a notable fellowship program. As an independent director at John Lewis Partnership since 2017, James supports the Chairman in maintaining the organization's unique character, while also acting as an independent advisor to senior leaders. Previous roles include operations manager at John Lewis & Partners, and non-executive director at Chichester Cathedral Enterprises Limited. James has a strong legal background as an employed barrister in family law and has completed a theological and ministerial studies degree at Sidney Sussex College Cambridge, along with a law degree from the University of Oxford.
