Shannon Spurlock

Associate Director, Rhode Island Office at JSI

Shannon Spurlock has worked for JSI for more than 17 years. She has managed the development of e-learning modules on marijuana and the adolescent brain, electronic nicotine devices, and an overview of the Rhode Island behavioral health system to support the onboarding of new staff. Shannon directs the RI Prevention Resource Center, providing training and technical assistance to a range of state and community-based prevention programs. She led the development of the RI prevention and peer recovery specialists certification exam guides to support workforce development in RI and nationally. She directed the RI Behavioral Health Workforce Development project focusing on building the capacity of behavioral health providers and retention and recruitment strategies. She co-directs the Pilot Evaluation for Peer Recovery Supports in the Emergency Department for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Shannon is a SAMHSA-certified trainer for the Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training and a certified prevention specialist and has an MA and CPS.
