Benjamin Schafer serves as the Willard and Lillian Hackerman Professor of Civil and Systems Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, where responsibilities include chairing the department from 2009 to 2015 and founding the Ralph O'Connor Sustainable Energy Institute, promoting sustainable energy technologies.
