Stephen S. Murray is a Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Johns Hopkins University, a position held since 2010. Murray's research focuses on high energy astrophysics, particularly utilizing multiwavelength observations with an emphasis on X-ray studies of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) and Clusters of Galaxies. Additionally, Murray is involved in developing photon-counting X-ray imaging spectrometers for space science, leveraging active pixel sensors and CMOS image array technology. Prior to the current role, Murray served as a Senior Astrophysicist at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory from 1973 to 2009. Educationally, Murray holds a PhD in Physics from CalTech and a BS in Physics from Columbia University.
