Janelle Bishop has a diverse work experience. Janelle began their career as an Admitting Clerk at MidMichigan Medical Center in 2001 and worked there until 2009. Janelle then transitioned to Johnston County Public Schools, where they held various roles. From 2009 to 2014, Janelle worked as an English Teacher, responsible for developing curriculum plans, identifying student needs, and maintaining student discipline. In 2014, they became a History Teacher at the same school, focusing on curriculum development and student progress tracking. In 2017, Janelle became a Teaching and Learning Coach, providing support and guidance to teachers. From 2019 to 2022, they served as an MTSS Coach, specializing in implementing Multi-Tiered Systems of Support. Currently, Janelle holds the position of Director of Professional Learning at Johnston County Public Schools, starting in July 2022.

Janelle Bishop holds a Master of Arts in School Principalship from Central Michigan University, which they obtained from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, they attended Saginaw Valley State University from 2003 to 2007, where they obtained a degree in Secondary Education with a focus on History/English Education. Janelle also possesses various certifications from the North Carolina DPI, including K-12 Principal, Language Arts 6-9, Social Studies 6-9, History 9-12, English 9-12, and Reading K-12.
