Rick J. Hester

Rick J. Hester has been the County Manager at Johnston County since December 1989. Rick previously worked as a Field Representative for Woodmen of the World Life from January 1988 to December 1989. Prior to that, they worked for Johnston County Government from August 1987 to June 1999, where they held various positions such as Interim Co Manager, Assistant County Manager, Assistant to the Manager, Administrative Assistant, Senior Land Use Planner, and Land Use Planner. Rick J. Hester's professional career began as a baseball player for the Texas Rangers Baseball Club's minor league system from June 1983 to March 1986.

Rick J. Hester has a Masters degree in Public Administration from North Carolina State University, a Bachelor's in Arts degree in Political Science and Government from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, and an Associates in Arts degree from Southeastern Community College - NC. Rick was also a student-athlete at Clemson University for their junior and senior seasons (baseball) and at North Carolina State University for their freshman season (baseball).
