UX Engineer at Tangelo

Jen Mak has a diverse work experience that spans various roles and industries. Jen recently joined Tangelo as a UX Engineer in March 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Unqork as a Senior Frontend Engineer from January 2020 to January 2023. At Unqork, they played a key role in developing a fully accessible design system in React, HTML, CSS Modules, and implemented it in the platform for an updated look and feel.

Before Unqork, Jen worked at Grubhub, where they held two roles. As a Software Engineer II from October 2016 to July 2019, they focused on front end feature development using React and AngularJS. Additionally, they also served as a Product Designer for a brief period in April 2016, where they contributed to designing features and consolidating the pattern library for Grubhub and Seamless brands.

Earlier in their career, they worked at Thomson Reuters as a UX Designer & Front End Developer from October 2013 to March 2016. Here, they gained experience in full stack development using Node, AngularJS, SASS, and D3. Jen also conducted user research sessions and developed rapid application prototypes to showcase content and analytics based scientific APIs to customers in the life sciences industry.

Jen started their career as a Freelance Web Developer and Junior Graphic Designer at KraftWorks in September 2013, and prior to that, they worked at NYU Informatics as a Graphic Designer and Multimedia Technician from August 2011 to May 2012. Jen also has experience working as an Assistant Online Web Developer at American Tower from June 2010 to August 2010, where they updated the Look & Feel of the Employee Development Center and designed Element K course content outlines. Overall, Jen Mak has a strong background in UX/UI design, frontend development, and graphic design.

Jen Mak completed their Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from New York University from 2009 to 2013. In 2014 to 2015, they attended General Assembly to study User Experience Design. Additionally, in May 2012, they received a Web Development Certificate from NYU-SCPS. In March 2014, they obtained a certification in "Tackling the Challenges of Big Data" from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
