Héctor Garcia Martin, PhD, is an accomplished staff scientist and computational biologist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory since 2007, focusing on quantitative metabolic modeling and research funding acquisition. Concurrently serving as Data Science and Modeling Director and Deputy Vice President of the Biofuels and Bioproducts Division at the Joint BioEnergy Institute, Héctor develops models to enhance biofuel production and leads the Quantitative Metabolic Modeling directorate. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral fellowship at the Joint Genome Institute, where Héctor specialized in the metagenomics of diverse microbial communities. Héctor holds a Ph.D. in theoretical condensed matter physics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Licenciatura in physics from Universidad del País Vasco.
