Executive Director, Publications & Education at Joint Commission Resources

Catherine Chopp Hinckley is the Executive Director, Global Publishing, Joint Commission Resources (JCR). In this role, Dr. Hinckley is responsible for the strategy and direction for all books, domestic and international accreditation manuals, digital newsletters, a journal, and e-books published by JCR as well as those by The Joint Commission and Joint Commission International (JCI). Dr. Hinckley also handles translations and licensing rights and aggregator sales and marketing channels for Joint Commission and JCI content.

Dr. Hinckley is an experienced senior leader in international health care publishing and education, with a demonstrated history of best-selling success in print and digital media in both B2B and consumer health care content. Dr. Hinckley previously served as Executive Director, Publications and Education; Associate Director, Editorial Development; Managing Editor; and Senior Editor, all at JCR. She has developed and edited dozens of manuals and books on health care quality and patient safety as well as managed the peer-reviewed The Joint Commission Journal on Quality and Patient Safety. Cathy also edited and directed the publication of The Joint Commission's consumer health care books, including The New York Times-best-seller YOU: The Smart Patient by Drs. Mehmet Oz and Michael Roizen, and The Smart Parent's Guide to Getting Your Kids Through Checkups, Illnesses, and Accidents by Dr. Jennifer Trachtenberg.

Prior to joining JCR, Cathy taught English literature and writing at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Hinckley received her MA and PhD in English from The Ohio State University and her BA in English from the University of Notre Dame.
