Roberta Herman is the current President & CEO at Joslin Diabetes Center, Inc. Prior to their current position, they served as the Executive Director for the Group Insurance Commission under the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from June 2016 to January 2020. In this role, they oversaw procurement and management of benefits for approximately 425,000 employees, survivors, dependents and retirees. From January 1996 to July 2013, Ms. Herman was the Chief Operating Officer for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care where they were responsible for Sales, Marketing, Strategy/Planning, Customer Service, Product Development, Network Management, Medical Management and Regional Markets. During their time at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, they oversaw $3 billion in revenue generation, $2.5 billion in medical expenses, a $200 million administrative budget and staff of 700.

Dr. Roberta Herman is a McGill-educated medical doctor who also holds a diploma in epidemiology and biostatistics from the same school. In addition, they have completed executive education certificates in marketing and accounting and finance for non-financial executives from the Wharton School. Her undergraduate degree is in biology from Brandeis University.
