Shio Kobayashi

Shio Kobayashi is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Joslin Diabetes Center since March 2022, previously holding similar positions at the University of Arizona and Joslin Diabetes Center, Harvard Medical School, where work focused on CAR technology for Type 1 diabetes and the establishment of human autoreactive T-cell screening systems. Prior to these roles, Shio served as an Associate Researcher at Kyoto University for 15 years, investigating the role of CXCL13-producing CD4+ T cells in rheumatoid arthritis pathology, their clinical relevance, and reconstructing human bone systems in mouse models. Shio started as a Research Assistant, exploring genetically modified TGF-β-producing CD4+ T cells and developing novel methods to detect autoantibodies. Shio earned a PhD in medical science with a specialization in Immunology from Kyoto University in 2016.
