Joel Brown

Joel Brown is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Montana since August 2023 and has been the Owner of Aesir Consulting LLC since January 2015. As the principal research scientist at Aesir Consulting, Joel collaborates with Power Consulting in Missoula, MT on economic and environmental challenges related to the US energy sector, and engages with the Norwegian Polar Institute and the University of Montana on ice sheet glaciology in both Antarctica and Greenland. Previous positions include a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Norwegian Polar Institute, where work focused on the Ice Rise project in Antarctica, and earlier roles at the University of Montana involved glacial flow modeling and georadar measurements. Joel holds a PhD in Geophysics from Boise State University, an M.S. in Geology from the University of Montana, and a B.S. in Physics and Astronomy from the same institution.
