Tyler Heist, Ph.D.

Tyler Heist, Ph.D., has a diverse range of work experience in the field of data engineering, data science, and research. Tyler is currently working as a Senior Data Engineer at Joyn Insurance since May 2023. Prior to this, Tyler worked at Cerebral from October 2021 to April 2023, where they held multiple roles as a Data Engineer, Product Manager, and Data Scientist. Before joining Cerebral, Tyler worked as a Data Scientist and Software Developer at Epic from September 2019 to September 2021.

Tyler also has research experience, starting from their time as a Graduate Research Assistant at Princeton University from September 2015 to June 2019. During this time, they also worked as an Assistant Instructor from September 2017 to May 2018. Prior to Princeton, Tyler worked at the University of Richmond, where they held various roles, including Beckman Scholar - Honors Biology Research from May 2014 to July 2015, Laboratory Teaching Assistant (Department of Biology) from January 2014 to April 2015, Grader and Laboratory Teaching Assistant (Department of Mathematics and Computer Science) from June 2013 to April 2015, Bonner Scholar from August 2011 to January 2015, Tutor from August 2012 to May 2014, Undergraduate Research Assistant from September 2011 to May 2014, and Laboratory Prep Assistant (Department of Biology) from January 2013 to December 2013.

Tyler Heist, Ph.D. completed their education in a chronological order. In 2011, they enrolled in the University of Richmond where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology and Computer Science, with a minor in Integrated Science. Tyler successfully completed their undergraduate studies in 2015.

Subsequently, Tyler attended Princeton University, starting in 2015. Tyler first pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Quantitative and Computational Biology which they completed by 2017. Tyler then continued their studies at Princeton and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Quantitative and Computational Biology in 2019.
