Jerneja Nimac

Young Researcher at Jozef Stefan Institute

Jerneja Nimac is a Young Researcher and Associate at the Jozef Stefan Institute since January 2022, focusing on protein-protein interactions, molecular mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS and FTD, stress granule formation related to ALS, and the pathology of RNA binding proteins in ALS and FTD. Prior to this role, Jerneja served as a Student Researcher at the University of Ljubljana's Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, where the investigation centered on the protein interactions of matrin 3 and its ALS-related mutant form S85C, culminating in a master's thesis on the topic. Jerneja contributed to the Student Council of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology from 2017 to October 2021, serving as Secretary and Council Member, and gained earlier research experience as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at the Institute of Pathophysiology and as a Student Researcher at the Kemijski Inštitut - National Institute of Chemistry. Jerneja holds a Master's degree in Biochemistry from the University of Ljubljana and a Bachelor's degree in the same field from the same institution.
