Natalia Romanova, PhD has a long and varied work experience. In 1992, they began their career as a Marketing Coordinator and Marketing and PR Manager at BP. In 2001, they became a Lecturer at the University of Maryland, where they taught 10 Russian language courses at all levels of proficiency and designed and taught the first course for Russian heritage speakers. In 2005, they were a Faculty Research Assistant at the National Foreign Language Center, University of Maryland, where they oversaw face-to-face and online training of external consultants in various languages, developed training materials, item specifications, and guidelines for consultants, and designed and implemented training and assessment of training. From 2009 to 2017, they were an Adjunct Professor, English for Academic Purposes and Research Scientist at George Washington University, where they were a member of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers. In 2017, they began working as a Program Manager/ SLA Team Lead at JTG, inc. and as Professional Development Chair at WASHINGTON AREA TESOL ASSOCIATION WATESOL.
Natalia Romanova received their B.A. and M.A. in Teaching Foreign Languages and Translation from Moscow State Linguistic University between 1979 and 1987. Natalia then went on to pursue a MA in Second Language Acquisition at the University of Maryland between 2001 and 2003. Natalia completed their PhD in Second Language Acquisition at the University of Maryland in 2012.
