Kya Chen is an Urban Policy Justice Associate at the Just Cities Institute, where responsibilities include conducting research and analysis, policy writing, and developing community education materials for housing initiatives in Richmond and Alameda County. Previously, Kya served as a Ron Dellums Racial Justice & Healing Fellow and was part of the Community Engagement Team at Causa Justa :: Just Cause. Kya's research experience includes working as an Undergraduate Researcher on the "COVID-19 Youth Impact Survey" at UC Berkeley, focusing on the needs of unhoused youth, as well as contributions as a student researcher at the UCLA Labor Center examining the challenges faced by student workers. Kya has also held administrative and recruitment roles at Berkeley Student Cooperative, emphasizing outreach and support for students in the Bay Area. Kya holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed the honors program at Los Angeles Pierce College.
