Mary Phibbs

Mary was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Just Group plc on 5 January 2023. She is a Chartered Accountant and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and has more than 40 years of international business, risk management and board experience in various countries in the United Kingdom, Europe, Australian, Pacific, Southeast Asia, and Middle Eastern regions.

Previous UK and overseas board experience includes Non-Executive Director of Morgan Stanley & Co International plc, Novae Group plc, New Day Group Limited, The Charity Bank Limited and Northern Rock plc during its period of public ownership. Mary has held senior positions at Standard Chartered Bank plc in London, ANZ Banking Group, National Australia Bank, Commonwealth Bank of Australia in Sydney and Melbourne, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte, among others.

She currently holds the roles of Chair of Virgin Money Unit Trust Managers Limited and is a Member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Risk Committee of the Toronto- based Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments), which ranks as one of the top ten global pension funds in the world.

Mary is a member of the Group and Subsidiary Audit Committees, Group Risk and Compliance Committee and the Group Remuneration Committee. Mary is also a Director the Group’s insurance subsidiaries Just Retirement Limited and Partnership Life Assurance Company Limited, and also Just Retirement Money Limited and Partnership Home Loans Limited. Subject to regulatory approval, Mary will Chair the Group, JRL and PLACL Audit Committees with effect from 9 May 2023.
