Co-founder/co-director, Trauma Informed Weightlifting, Center For Trauma And Embodiment at Justice Resource Institute

Mariah Rooney, MSW, LICSW, serves as an Advisory Board Member for both the Center for the Treatment of Developmental Trauma Disorders and the Center for Trauma Recovery and Juvenile Justice. Since September 2017, Mariah has been the Co-Founder and Co-Director of Trauma Informed Weightlifting at the Justice Resource Institute, focusing on research and training related to trauma-informed practices in weightlifting. Mariah has extensive clinical experience, including roles as a Postgraduate Clinical Social Work Fellow at The Trauma Center at JRI and a Psychotherapist in private practice. In academia, Mariah is an Assistant Professor and Adjunct Professor in social work programs, developing trauma-focused curricula. Prior experience includes roles in trauma care coordination, training development, and clinical fellowships, complemented by a Master of Social Work from the University of St. Thomas and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Minnesota.
