Karen Nachbar is a highly experienced attorney with a career spanning over two decades. Karen began their legal career in 1997 as an Associate at Pillsbury Winthrop, where they practiced commercial litigation, trademark and copyright litigation, and counterfeiting. In 2000, they were seconded from Pillsbury to The Metropolitan Museum of Art as Acting Assistant Counsel, where they advised museum clients on special exhibition agreements and negotiated and drafted museum contracts. Nachbar then joined Morgan Stanley in 2003 as an Executive Director in the Technology, IP, and e-Commerce legal team, where they drafted and negotiated software and SaaS licensing agreements, consulting and services agreements, and outsourcing deals. In 2007, they joined Scholastic Inc. as Vice President and Senior Counsel, where they led the due diligence process for the sale of the Education Technology Division and provided legal support for the Education Technology and Professional Services divisions. In 2015, they joined Houghton Mifflin Harcourt as Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel, where they were a strategic legal and business partner to the Education Technology and Professional Services divisions. In 2017, they joined Sotheby's as Senior Vice President, Associate General Counsel, and Compliance Counsel, where they spearheaded the digital transformation of the global auction house. In 2019, they joined BARK as General Counsel, where they led corporate governance and IPO readiness work and handled the legal aspects of corporate financial transactions. In 2021, they founded Karen L. Nachbar, Esq., where they provide General Counsel Advisory and Legal Services. Finally, in 2022, they will join Vanilla as General Counsel.

Karen Nachbar holds a Bachelor's Degree in Human Development and Family Studies, General from Cornell University, as well as a JD from The George Washington University Law School.
