Isaac Oates

Isaac Oates is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in technology, entrepreneurship, and military service. Currently serving as an Urbanism Fellow at Tech:NYC since March 2025, Isaac has also held the position of Founder & Executive Chair at Justworks, where responsibilities included overseeing payroll and benefits, after serving as CEO from the company's inception until October 2022. Isaac's earlier roles include Board Member at London Plane Foundation, VP of Special Projects at Etsy, and various positions in Amazon.com and Yahoo. Additionally, Isaac was an Intelligence Officer (Captain) in the United States Army–Reserve Components from 1998 to 2010. Educational qualifications include an M.A. in Political Science from The Graduate Center, City University of New York, an MBA in Operations & General Management from Cornell University, and a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
