Jim Demetriades became passionate about computers at the age of 9, when his father, an inventor, entrepreneur and rocket scientist would drop him off at the Caltech computer room for the day.
At the age of 22, Mr. Demetriades’ first job was to design and manage the development of all the software for Healthnet, the largest HMO in the United States, for a small startup outsourcer. By 25 he had 65 developers reporting to him and he left the company because the products were complete. He then went to work for a hospital software company, PHS, where he led their hospital integration practice. There he became the chairman of the HL7 ADT and finance standards organization. This standard became the global standard for the integration of healthcare organizations and data. At the age of 26 he started his own software company, SeeBeyond, that invented and patented numerous technologies in the software industry, including composite, client server based integration technology, distributed integration technologies, and cloud based integration and development products. These integration products were ranked number one in the world by the Gartner Group.
Jim Demetriades grew SeeBeyond, which he started with 5,000 dollars, into the world’s largest organically grown and self-funded integration software company in dozens of industries around the world, including GM, Porsche, BMW, Pepsi, NY Columbia Presbyterian, JPMorgan Chase, Unilever, Air Liquide, the British NHS, Aetna, the Cleveland Clinic, and about another 10,000 customers. He has experience working in dozens of industries as his company solved his clients’ complex global integration needs.
As the company grew he decided to build a unique and extremely powerful board of directors to help the company successfully continue its growth and development. This board consisted of the CEO and Founder of Accenture, the president of Oracle, the president of PeopleSoft, a retired managing partner of E&Y, and the EVP of business development and strategy of EDS.
Jim Demetriades then took his company, SeeBeyond, public and enjoyed the many adventures of being the CEO and Chairman of a 1600 person public company. With offices in 35 countries, Mr. Demetriades successfully sold the company to Sun Microsystems (now part of Oracle) in 2005 for 386 million dollars in cash.

He serves on boards of numerous technology companies in a variety of industries. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, with a second major in Computer Science and minors in Marketing and Mathematics, from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles.
He is also a founding member and past Chair of the ADT and Finance chapters of the healthcare HL7 ANSI standards group. HL7 is the global standard for healthcare information exchange. Mr. Demetriades is a chef and enjoys fishing, reading, playing computer games, and has been a winning competitive yacht sailor and was a founder of the Transpac 52 yacht class, the grand prix class of carbon fiber racing yachts.
