Kevin Ko

Kevin Ko is a Machine Learning Researcher currently employed at Kakao Corp since June 2024, following a transition from Kakao Brain after its acquisition by Kakao. At Kakao, Kevin works with both the Language Model Alignment team and the Multimodal Foundation Model team. Prior to this role, Kevin was a Machine Learning Researcher at Kakao Brain from May 2023 to May 2024, where the primary focus was on pre-training the foundation model KoGPT2 using approximately 2 trillion tokens. Kevin also served as Lead Machine Learning Scientist at EleutherAI, a nonprofit organization dedicated to machine learning, from February 2022 to September 2023. As a co-founder and Machine Learning Engineer at TUNiB from March 2021 to May 2023, Kevin contributed to the development of various persona chatbots. Kevin's early experience includes positions as a Machine Learning Engineer at Kakao Brain from August 2020 to February 2021 and as an intern focused on Korean quiz generation models. Kevin obtained a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering from Jeonbuk National University, completing studies in 2020.
