Justin Hanes

Justin Hanes has a diverse work experience in the field of pharmaceuticals and ophthalmology. Justin is the founder of Theraly, Inc. and Theraly Diabetes, Inc., both of which were established in 2014. Prior to this, they founded GrayBug, LLC in 2011, where they served as the Director and CEO until 2013. GrayBug focuses on developing drugs for vision-related diseases. In 2009, Justin founded Kala Pharmaceuticals and served as a director until 2012. Justin also held the Lewis J. Ort Professor position at Wilmer Eye Institute, starting in 2009. Before these ventures, Justin was appointed as the Lewis J. Ort Family Professor at Johns Hopkins University in 1998.

Justin Hanes pursued their education in the field of Chemical Engineering, with a Bachelor of Science degree from UCLA, which they obtained between 1987 and 1991. Justin continued to further hone their expertise at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where they completed their Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from 1991 to 1996.
