J Malcolm Smith

J Malcolm Smith has extensive work experience in student affairs and administration. J Malcolm currently holds the position of Vice President for Student Development and Dean of Students at Kalamazoo College. Previously, they served as the Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students at Salve Regina University from 2019 to 2021, and as the Associate Vice President, Dean of Students & Title IX Coordinator from 2013 to 2019. Prior to that, they worked as the Assistant Dean of Students at the University of Illinois at Chicago from 2007 to 2013, the Interim Director of University Judiciaries at Ohio University from 2005 to 2007, and the Director of Judicial & External Affairs at John Carroll University from 1999 to 2004. J Malcolm started their career at Ohio University, where they held various roles including Assistant Director of University Judiciaries, Vice President and Dean of Students Office Intern, Career Services Outreach Liaison to the Regional Campuses, and Office of the Assistant Dean for Development Intern from 1997 to 1999.

J Malcolm Smith has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, with a focus on Elementary Education, from Ohio University. They also have a Master's degree in Education Major from the same institution. Additionally, they hold certifications in the National Incident Management System (NIMS) from the Federal Emergency Management Administration.
