Joseph Shumunov

Joseph Shumunov's work experience includes various roles, starting from 2021. Joseph served as the President of Model United Nations at Kalamazoo College, where they coordinated meetings and led delegations to conferences. Joseph also worked as the Hillel Vice President of Education, organizing events for Jewish students, educating the campus community about the Israel-Palestine conflict, and managing social media posts related to Judaism. Joseph was a Refugee Tutor for Homework Tutoring Champions, providing English instruction and academic support to refugee and migrant students. In 2023, Joseph served as a Law Clerk at Ellias & Elias, P.C., and as a News Media Intern at The Jordan Times, assisting with editing, social media strategy, and news analysis. Joseph also worked as a Research Intern at the Hudson Institute, conducting research on the Middle East, and as a Beren Summer Fellow at The Tikvah Fund, studying Jewish thought and Israel-Azerbaijan relations. Additionally, Joseph was a Public Affairs Intern at the U.S. Department of State, creating content and assisting with social media management, and served as Secretary for the Refugee Outreach Collective, organizing events to support refugee families. Joseph also worked as a Summer Research Intern at the Topchubashov Center, analyzing international relations issues.

Joseph Shumunov earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and International Area Studies from Kalamazoo College from 2021 to 2025. Joseph also studied abroad in 2023, focusing on the Arabic Language at CET Academic Programs. Before their college education, Joseph obtained a High School Diploma from Frankel Jewish Academy from 2017 to 2021.
