Marcelo Almeida has worked in the software development field since 2001. Marcelo began their career at Polimed as a System Analyst, where they maintained a transaction system for health insurance companies. In 2004, they worked as a System Analyst at BrasilTelecom, a company acquired by Oi, where they worked with systems that processed 160M phone call records per day. In 2007, they worked at the Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (Superior Electoral Court) - TSE, where they were part of the team responsible for porting the systems of the Brazilian Voting Machine. From 2014 to 2016, they worked at Amazon as a Software Development Engineer, where they were part of a team that maintained an online service for users in North America, Europe and China. Marcelo then moved to Squarepoint Capital, where they were part of the market data team and helped improve the architecture of the systems. In 2021, they began working at ALTEN Canada as a Software Developer, where they worked as a consultant in Morgan Stanley FX team. Marcelo then moved to Kaloom, where they work as a Software Developer at the Software Defined Fabric team. Marcelo has been mentoring some of the less experienced developers in the team in design in C++ and using google test framework.

Marcelo Almeida completed their Master of Science (MSc) in Mechanical Engineering from Universidade de Brasília between 1995 and 1998. Marcelo then completed a Specialist degree in Software Testing from Universidade Unieuro from 2009 to 2010. Lastly, they completed a Specialist degree in Computer Systems Analysis/Analyst from Universidade Católica de Brasília between 2000 and 2001.
