David J Chess Ph.D.

David J Chess, PhD, MBA, has a diverse work experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. David J is currently serving as the Senior Director of Business Development at KalVista Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since May 2023. Prior to this role, they held the position of Director of Business Development at the same company from December 2020 to May 2023.

Before joining KalVista Pharmaceuticals, Inc., David worked at BioMotiv where they held several roles in Technical Operations. David J was the Director of Technical Operations from October to November 2020, Associate Director from November 2019 to September 2020, and Manager from October 2017 to November 2019.

David also worked as a Consultant at Stealth BioTherapeutics from May to September 2017 and as a Principal Scientist at Flagship Pioneering from August 2016 to March 2017.

David J'searlier experience includes working as a Senior Scientist at Stealth BioTherapeutics from August 2015 to July 2016, and as a Senior Scientist in Cardiovascular & Metabolism at The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson from April 2014 to August 2015.

David started their career as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Boston University School of Medicine from August 2012 to April 2014, and at the National Institutes of Health from November 2008 to August 2012.

David J Chess, PhD, MBA completed their education in a chronological order starting from high school to their highest level of education achieved. David J attended Walsh Jesuit High School from 1996 to 2000. David J then pursued their undergraduate studies at Xavier University from 2000 to 2004, earning a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Natural Sciences. Following this, they enrolled at Case Western Reserve University where they obtained their Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics from 2004 to 2008. Lastly, they attended Babson F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business from 2016 to 2017, earning a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree with a focus on Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies.
