ʻōiwi Teaching And Learning Mobilizer at Kamehameha Schools

Nathan Gong is an experienced educator and researcher currently serving as the ʻŌiwi Teaching and Learning Mobilizer at Kamehameha Schools since November 2022. Previously, Nathan was a Doctoral Candidate at UC Berkeley School of Education, focusing on cultural reclamation education, indigenous language revitalization, and arts-centered education. Nathan has extensive expertise in qualitative research, community-engaged research, and Indigenous research methods. Other roles include supervising pre-service teachers, teaching arts integration courses, and contributing to the UC Berkeley Principal Leadership Institute as a Graduate Student Researcher. Nathan's earlier experience includes strategic management at Year Up and teaching at Oakland Technical High School, with a strong emphasis on innovative and culturally responsive curriculum design. Nathan holds a PhD in Education from UC Berkeley, alongside a Master's Degree from the same institution and a Bachelor's Degree in American Ethnic Studies from the University of Washington.
