Bryan Carper

Bomb Squad Commander at Kanawha County Sheriff's Office

Bryan Carper has extensive experience in law enforcement, currently serving as Bomb Squad Commander, Training Coordinator, and Detective at the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office since October 2005. In addition to these roles, Bryan has been a Certified Explosives Specialist with the ATF since July 2016, previously holding the position of Task Force Officer with ATF from February 2005 to October 2005. Bryan's law enforcement career began as a Patrolman at the Summersville Police Department from July 1998 to January 2000. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration from West Virginia State University, a Master's degree in Forensic Science specializing in Arson and Explosives from Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences, and a degree in Explosives Technology from Missouri University of Science and Technology. Additional training includes graduation from the FBI National Academy, Bomb Technician certification from Hazardous Devices School, and a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice/Police Science from West Virginia State University.

Kanawha County Sheriff's Office

The Kanawha County Sheriff's Office is comprised of approximately 100 sworn law enforcement officers and numerous support, non-sworn positions. The Sheriff's Office handles the majority of all law enforcement matters in the non-incorporated areas of Kanawha County. The Sheriff's Office also provides various other responsibilities such as; Judicial Security, Mental Hygiene, Civil Process, Home Confinement, Day Report, and various other programs.
