Substitute Flute/piccolo at Kansas City Symphony

Mary Bassett Shemon is a skilled classical musician and flutist with extensive experience in performance and education. Currently, Mary operates as a freelance musician and serves as a substitute flute and piccolo player for the Kansas City Symphony since January 2014. In addition to performing, Mary teaches flute at both the Mary Bassett Shemon Flute Studio and previously at the Kansas City Suzuki Academy and the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where Mary instructed undergraduate and master's level students. Educational credentials include a Master of Music in Flute Performance from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance and Musicology from Northwestern University. Mary also held positions as a lecturer at The University of Kansas and performed with the Palm Beach Symphony and Florida Grand Opera.
