James Berleman

James (Jeb) Berleman is a seasoned microbiologist with extensive experience in both academia and industry. Currently serving as the Director of Microbiology at Kanvas Biosciences, James has held key positions such as Associate Director of Translational Research at Federation Bio, where contributions included developing assays for clinical trials and coordinating cross-functional teams. As a consultant for DermBiont, James led clinical studies and explored probiotic mechanisms of action. Academic roles include Associate Professor at Saint Mary's College of California, where over 50 students were mentored, and curriculum development in microbiology and genetics took place. James holds a PhD in Microbiology from Indiana University Bloomington and a BS in Microbiology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
