Director Of Patient Safety & Clinical Risk at Karmanos Cancer Institute

Paul Taylor has a diverse work experience history. Paul started their career as a Public Information Officer & Education Coordinator at Professional Med Team in 1990, where they obtained program accreditation and acted as Lead Instructor & Program Coordinator for Emergency Medical Service studies. Paul then worked as a Paramedic/Dispatcher at Universal-Macomb Ambulance Service, providing emergency and non-emergency care and transportation to sick or injured individuals.

After that, Paul worked as a Pathologist Assistant at Detroit Medical Center's Harper University Hospital, where they performed gross dissection of surgical pathology specimens and provided instruction to students and residents. Paul also had a role as an ACLS Instructor at Health Education Associates, delivering standardized curricula for the treatment of cardiac arrest and other conditions to healthcare providers.

Paul later transitioned to a role at BioreclamationIVT (formerly Asterand Bioscience) as a Clinical Quality & Training Manager. In this position, they executed training programs, managed quality improvement projects, and conducted cross-functional training sessions with clients in the hospital and medical practice sectors.

Most recently, Paul has been serving as the Director of Patient Safety & Clinical Risk at Karmanos Cancer Institute, leading the Safety First program and integrating the Patient Safety & Clinical Risk program for two McLaren Health Care facilities. Paul is responsible for performing root cause analysis and facilitating action planning in response to patient safety events.

In addition to their healthcare roles, Paul also owns RPT Productions LLC and works as a Principal Owner and Voice Over Artist. Paul has a professional home studio where they record clear, broadcast-quality audio for e-learning, corporate, medical narrations, instructor videos, and other voice-over projects.

Paul Taylor completed their Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree from Ohio University between 2015 and 2017. Prior to their master's degree, they obtained a BS degree in Pathologists' Assistant from Wayne State University. Paul also holds an AA degree in Emergency Medical Services from Muskegon Community College. Paul Taylor has additional certifications in various fields, including Paramedic Instructor/Coordinator from the State of Michigan, ACLS Instructor from the American Heart Association, and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from the University of Michigan College of Engineering, among others.
