Hailing from Sudbury, Ontario on Robinson-Huron Treaty land, Fiija (he/she) has a background in community development and recreation management. Fiija is particularly interested in the development of community programs and the management and delivery of accessible recreational activities.
In 2010, Fiija completed Katimavik's six-month National Experience program, which provided her with the tools, resources, and guidance needed to excel in her personal and professional pursuits. In recognition of this, Fiija became an advocate for the organization in 2011 during a bike tour across Canada – The Circa75 Katimavik Bike Tour – which started in Tofino, British Columbia, and ended in Halifax, Nova Scotia after five and a half months on the road. In 2015, Fiija completed a degree in Community Development with Environmental and Sustainability Studies at Acadia University in Nova Scotia. Since then, Fiija has spent its time working in communities in Eastern Canada and found a home in Churchill, Manitoba, Treaty 5 territory. Currently, a member of the Canadian Rangers for the Churchill Patrol Group as part of the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve, Fiija enjoys traveling to the field and learning more about his adopted community and the surrounding region. Fiija is proud to return to Katimavik to serve as a project supervisor and support the National Experience program.
