Senior Program Officer, Analytics and Impact Stories at Kauffman Foundation

Connor Nowalk has a diverse work experience that spans across multiple industries and roles. In 2009, they worked as an English Teacher at the Harvard Center for International Development - WorldTeach. In 2010, they served as a Language Strategy Intern at maslansky luntz + partners and also worked as a Literacy Tutor at The Literacy Lab.

In 2011, Connor became a Math Teacher, selected through Teach For America, at Cesar Chavez PCS for Public Policy. During this time, they designed and implemented a math curriculum for three Algebra II teachers and led a Community Action Project that raised $300 for adult literacy organizations. Connor also led a professional development committee on critical thinking in instruction.

From 2011 to 2013, they worked as an ESL Teacher at the International Language Institute. In 2013, they joined Guadalupe Centers as a Math Teacher, where they remained until 2015.

In 2014, Connor became the Founder and CEO of Echograde, a role they held until 2016. During this time, they gained experience in managing and leading a company.

In 2015, they briefly worked as a Communications Associate at The Learning Club. Then, from 2016 to 2019, they held the position of Data and Strategy Manager at The Literacy Lab, where they were responsible for overseeing data evaluation and operations. Connor was later promoted to Director of Data and Evaluation and then Director of Data Evaluation and Operations in 2021.

Since January 2022, they have been serving as a Senior Program Officer for Analytics and Impact Stories at the Kauffman Foundation.

Connor Nowalk completed their education at various institutions. Connor began their educational journey at Baldwin High School from 2001 to 2005. Afterward, they joined the Cleveland Institute of Music in 2005, where they focused on voice performance. In 2006, they transferred to the University of Notre Dame and pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree with a program of liberal studies and a specialization in music theory/history. Finally, from 2016 to 2018, they attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and obtained a Master of Science degree in Data Science and Analytics.
