Mark Newton has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry, spanning over several years. Mark began their career in 1990 at CIS Technologies (now Change Healthcare), where they worked as a Technical Support Representative and later as an Account Executive. Mark then joined Ernst & Young in 1993, where they served as a Senior Consultant and later as a Manager in the Healthcare Practice, providing revenue cycle consulting services to hospitals and healthcare systems.
In 1996, Mark moved to NDCHealth (now Change Healthcare) as the Director of Extended Business Office and Professional Services, responsible for P&L of the revenue cycle EDI clearing house and hospital services division. Mark later took on a role as Vice President of Revenue Cycle at Omega Health Systems (now Optum), overseeing sales, marketing, and product management efforts.
Mark joined Accenture in 2004 as a Senior Manager in Healthcare Advisory Services. Here, they had project management, delivery, and sales responsibilities for various provider and payer engagements in revenue cycle operations, system implementation, process improvement, and interim management.
In 2009, Mark joined FTI Consulting, Inc. as a Managing Director in Provider Performance Improvement, where they managed revenue cycle, supply chain, labor/productivity, and physician enterprise consulting engagements for large health systems and physician groups.
Continuing their career trajectory, Mark joined MedAssets (now nThrive) in 2014 as Vice President of Revenue Cycle Advisory Solutions. Here, they were responsible for sales and executive oversight of revenue cycle consulting engagements, evaluating operations, financial, and transactional data to identify improvement opportunities.
From 2016 to 2019, Mark worked at Cumberland Consulting Group as a Managing Director of Provider Services. Mark led a revenue cycle optimization concurrent with an Epic implementation for a $5 billion health system, achieving significant results in revenue, patient pre-registration, and process improvement.
Currently, Mark serves as the Senior Vice President of Revenue Cycle at Kaufman Hall, where they continue to leverage their expertise in revenue cycle management and optimization.
Mark Newton earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Business Administration and Management from Oklahoma State University. Mark also obtained certifications including Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA) in 1998 and Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) in 1995 from the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
