Heather Grabbe is a Senior Fellow at Bruegel and a Senior Advisor at Kaya Partners since September 2023. Grabbe has experience as a Visiting Professor at UCL since 2021 and previously served as a Senior Advisor to the leadership of Open Society Foundations, focusing on sustainability and democratic transitions until November 2023. From 2009 to 2022, Grabbe was the Executive Director of the Open Society European Policy Institute, advocating for democracy and human rights in Europe. Earlier roles include Senior Advisor to the European Commission on EU policy toward Turkey and the Balkans, Deputy Director at the Centre for European Reform, and Research Fellow at Chatham House. Grabbe holds a PhD in politics from the University of Birmingham and has completed various fellowships and research at prestigious institutions, including the European University Institute and the University of Oxford.
