Achila Jayasuriya

Achila Jayasuriya's work experience includes a managerial role at KDM Engineering starting in 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Milhouse Engineering & Construction, Inc. from 2019 to 2023, where they held various positions such as Manager of Midwest Substation Engineering, Electrical Engineer IV, and Electrical Power Section Lead. Achila also worked at Primera Engineers from 2014 to 2019 as a Substation/Protection and Controls Engineer, specializing in schematics and wiring diagrams for protective relays, SCADA systems, and auxiliary power. Earlier in their career, they had a cooperative role at Omaha Public Power District in 2013 as an Electrical Engineering Co-op, and a teaching assistant role at Iowa State University in the same year. Achila has additional experience in the apparel industry, serving as the Operational Planning Head of the Department at Courtaulds Clothing Lanka from 2007 to 2008, and as an Operational Planner at Dim Branded Apparel from 2006 to 2007.

Achila Jayasuriya attended St.Anthony's College from 1984 to 1999, where they obtained their high school degree in General Studies. Achila then pursued a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Peradeniya from 2000 to 2004. After that, Achila went on to obtain another bachelor's degree, this time in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, from Iowa State University between 2010 and 2013. In December 2013, they completed the Lean Foundations Training at the Omaha Public Power District and also obtained certification in High Pressure Steam Awareness from the same institution in August of that year.
