Michael joined Kelso in 1991. He spent the preceding two years as a Managing Director and Co-head of the Mergers and Acquisitions department at The First Boston Corporation. He spent the previous eleven years practicing corporate law in the Mergers and Acquisitions group of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, becoming a Partner in 1980. He spent the previous five years as an Associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore.
Michael is active in the Firm’s investments in The Poseidon Companies and Tallgrass. He has served as a director on the boards of many Kelso portfolio companies, including Armkel, Buckeye Partners, Cronos, Delphin Shipping, Eagle Bulk Shipping, Endo Pharmaceuticals, KAR Auction Services, Optigas, Overwatch Systems, Unilab and Universal Outdoor.
Michael earned a J.D. from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and the Law Review, in 1972. He received a B.S. in Business Administration in Finance with high honors from the University of Florida in 1969.
